M restaurant launches airline-style seating policy

The ever-innovative “M” steakhouse in the City of London has launched an airline-style seating policy where diners can book their seats before their visit.

M allows you to choose your seat when you book online

Customers who book online will have the option to choose exactly where in the restaurant they’d like to sit, with booth bookings also available at both the steakhouse on the left hand side and the sushi-focused “Raw” on the right.

Diners who book their seats online will also be allowed to keep their tables for the entire evening rather than be restricted to a two-hour table turnaround.

“Dining should be a relaxing experience, which can last as long or short as the guest wishes,” said founder Martin Williams.

“There is nothing more disrespectful than being repeatedly told throughout the booking process that the restaurant wants your table back,” he added.

The move is a clever one, which puts the power back in the hands of the diner, making them feel valued rather than someone to be hurried out of their seat.

“M”, which opened last December on Threadneedle Street, specialises in steak from Japan, Australia, the US, Argentina, South Africa and France.

Since it opened the restaurant has pioneered a number of innovative initiatives, such as BYOD (bring your own dog) to brunch, and a limited edition menu featuring python, kangaroo and crocodile.

A second site is due to open in Victoria in December, which will boast a wine shop selling hard to find wines from the six nations its steaks hail from.
