A major player in the French market which is, somewhat surprisingly, one of the biggest market’s for Scotch in the world, 2014 was a good year for La Martiniquaise‘s flagship Scotch brand.

Sylvia Bernard, international marketing director, said: “Our sales in France have recovered after the tax increases in France two years ago, which had a big [negative] effect.

“We fully control the supply… and we have invested strongly in Scotch over the last 10 years so we have the supply to grow [further].”

    Thank you, Kim! Could not agree more. Why do they make us scan through ten pages to get the full list? I assume it’s because they want to get credit for ‘bringing eyes’ to the ads, but it’s really annoying / offensive.

    While I’m not normally a whiskey snob, I’m dishartened to go through all 10 pages to find every one of them are blended scotches. Do the editors not like single malt? Or maybe they are just afraid to try them.

      As it says on the opening page, it is top 10 Scotch whiskies by volume sales worldwide, not by arbitrary taste preference. Why would someone be “afraid” to taste single malts?! Strange…
