‘All about Burgundy’ at Heritage sale

Heritage Auction’s early December sale will feature over 700 lots of top Burgundy from Dugat to Groffier to the ubiquitous DRC.

The sale, taking place 5-6 December in Beverly Hills and simulcast live in Hong Kong at Crown Wine Cellars, will feature cases of Claude Dugat, Comte Armand, Hubert Lignier, Gros Freres et Soeur, Domaine Groffier, Domaine Roty and more with the assurance of “flawless provenance”.

“The story of this auction is all about Burgundy,” said Frank Martell, director of Fine & Rare Wine at Heritage Auctions.

“These 500+ lots equal more than US$500,000 in wine, all directly imported from the Burgundy region, from the hottest producers, all with a significant level of quality. The market for fine and rare Burgundy has been very strong lately and, with this kind of provenance, we expect that trend to continue.”

The auction world’s most dominant wine label at the moment, Domaine de la Romanée-Conti, will also be well represented with vintages spanning 1969-2011.

Top DRC standouts include: a Jeroboam of 1976 La Tache ($9,500), single bottles of 1985 Romanée-Conti ($9,500 apiece) and three bottles of 2009 La Tache for ($7,500).

Bordeaux, California and Rhône will round out the offerings, with 1996 Pétrus ($15,000) and Guigal’s 1969 La Mouline ($16,000) particular standouts alongside a case of 1982 Margaux ($7,500) and two magnums of 1982 Lafite ($9,500).
