Pimm’s No.6 restored after outcry

Diageo has back-tracked on its plan to discontinue Pimm’s No.6 Vodka Cup after being “flooded” with customer requests.

Originally launched in 1964 as the sixth expression in the Pimm’s range, the No.6 Vodka Cup ceased production this year, provoking a reaction from consumers as stocks began to run low.

Announcing the change in tack, Pimm’s senior brand manager Joanna Segesser commented: “We take consumer feedback to heart, and we have been overwhelmed by the outpouring of support for Pimm’s No.6 Vodka Cup. Pimm’s is an iconic British brand and we are delighted to be able to listen to the British public’s request to re-launch Pimm’s Vodka Cup.”

As a result, the expression will now return to the shelves in summer 2015.

The full original Pimm’s range is as follows: No.1, gin; No.2, whisky; No.3, brandy; No.4, rum; No.5, rye; No.6, vodka.

However, today only the No.1 Cup remains, although the brand has since added a “Winter Warmer”, which is brandy based, and a summer variant “Blackberry & Elderflower”, which is vodka based.
