The Macallan celebrates midsummer in HK

Scotch whisky The Macallan is to pay tribute to composer Felix Mendelssohn and playwright William Shakespeare in Hong Kong with the next installment of its “Bravo!” series.

Next month The Macallan will partner with the Hong Kong Philharmonic Chorus and Orchestra to host an evening of Mendelssohn’s “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre Concert Hall.

The evening is to be the latest in the brand’s “Bravo!” series which allows it to share “the finest in life with those who appreciate ingenious talent and master craftsmanship,” while also, “bringing together the essence of two different worlds, melding the delicate and complex aroma of whisky with the marvel that is Felix Mendelssohn’s contribution to the Shakespearean classic.”

The conductor for the evening will be Nicholas McGregan who made a name for himself in both the UK and US for his work with Baroque and 18th century music as well as founding the San Francisco Philharmonia Baroque Orchestra and Philharmonia Chorale.

The Macallan is sure that McGregan’s “brilliant energy and spirit in his performances,” and his “unique ability to capture the essence of the music,” will thrill classical music lovers.

The performance will take place on 4 and 5 of July.
