Osama ‘beer’ Laden pulls pints in Brazil

A Brazilian bar owner has turned an uncanny resemblance to Osama Bin Laden to his advantage by naming his bar after the infamous terrorist and posing for pictures with its patrons.

Bar Do Bin Laden in Sao Paulo is run by Bin Laden look-a-like Ceará Francisco Helder Braga Fernandes, who renamed his bar soon after 9/11, as reported by The Guardian.

Before the former Al-Qaida leader was killed, and when a worldwide manhunt for the terrorist was still in force, Fernandes, a Sao Paulo resident since 1978, was spotted by an alarmed customer who promptly called the police.

On arrival, officers soon realised the look-a-likeness and rather than arresting him, instead posed for pictures.

Fernandes has since become something of a local celebrity having appeared on local TV, while his bar has become a hotspot for for local goths and metal fans.

And it seems Fernandes is not the only one in Brazil to bizarrely cash-in on Bin Laden’s infamy.

According to The Guardian, other Bin Laden-themed bars exist in the region including Caverna do Bin Laden (Bin Laden’s Cave), as well as a second Bin Laden’s Bar, which is said to have another look-a-like behind its counter.
