Jack Daniel’s ups rye whiskey offering

Jack Daniel’s has launched its second rye whiskey expression, and its first to be barrel-matured,  following on from its 2012 release of Unaged Tennessee Rye.

Jack Daniel’s Rested Tennessee Rye, a limited edition 40% abv whiskey, marks the distillery’s first barrel-matured expression in the rye category and will be available in US markets from April.

Jack Daniel’s Master Distiller, Jeff Arnett, said: “We felt like it was time for our Jack Daniel’s friends and whiskey enthusiasts alike to see for themselves how the new oak barrel has enhanced the rye whiskey over the last two years.”

“We were pleased with the reception we received from our Jack Daniel’s Unaged Rye.

“We felt like it was time for our Jack Daniel’s friends and whiskey enthusiasts alike to see for themselves how the new oak barrel has enhanced the rye whiskey over the last two years.”

Jack Daniel’s Rested Rye is crafted from 70% rye, 18% corn and 12% malted barley and is described as having “complex notes” of vanilla, caramel, fruit and rye spice.

Arnett added: “Having spent two cycles of the Tennessee seasons resting in the barrelhouse, we think consumers will be surprised by how much the caramelized wood sugars from our new, lightly toasted and charred barrels have imparted to the flavor of the rye.”

Jack Daniel’s Rested Rye will be available in 750ml bottle size at select US outlets with a suggested retail price of $49.99.
