The collection, formed of nine different sizes of Armand de Brignac Brut Gold NV, ranging from a standard 75cl bottle to a 30L Midas, was bought by businessman Charles Shaker at the Billionaire Club in Monte-Carlo last weekend at a party celebrating the Monaco Grand Prix.

The equivalent of 109 standard 75cl bottles, it took a procession of 12 waiting staff to carry the collection through the club, with the Midas alone requiring the strength of four men.

To add to the theatre of the serve, the bottles were equipped with sparklers before they were paraded through the crowd of partygoers.

The launch of the Dynastie marks the release of three new bottle sizes of Brut Gold NV – the 4.5L Rehoboam, the 9L Salmanazar and the 12L Balthazar.

In addition, a 1.5L magnum, 3L Jeroboam, 6L Methuselah and 15L Nebuchadnezzar will also make an appearance in the Dynastie fleet.

Liquid gold: the Armand de Birgnac Dynastie collection

“I was introduced to Armand de Brignac by my friend Don Johnson and when I heard the brand had created the Dynastie collection, it caught my attention immediately.

Buying the Dynastie at the Grand Prix party was such a joy and I wanted everyone to be part of the celebration. There was certainly enough champagne to go around,” Shaker said.

“Everyone was dancing, when the music suddenly stopped. We then saw what seemed like a never-ending stream of gold bottles being bought through the club.

“Everyone was trying to take pictures, cheering and clapping. Shaker’s table then started opening bottles and waiters were pouring Champagne for everyone, it was an amazing night,” commented one excited reveler.

American actor Leonardo DiCaprio, who recently played Jay Gatsby in Baz Luhrmann’s adaptation of the F. Scott Fitzgerald classic, The Great Gatsby, was among the celebrities at the party.

DiCaprio spent US$3m on Ace of Spades when he celebrated his 38th birthday with friends last year in New York.

A favourite among rappers including Jay-Z, Kanye West and Drake, Armand de Brignac is made by Champagne Cattier and distributed in the US by Sovereign Brands.
