Legeron launches Lagvini natural wine

Natural wine advocate Isabelle Legeron MW has launched her own label called Lagvini.

Isabelle Legeron MW embraces a kvevri

Both a natural and orange wine, the new product comes from Georgia and is fermented and aged in a kvevri – the traditional, Georgian clay pots which are buried in the ground.

The wine is actually the product of a joint venture between Legeron and Eko Glonti, a doctor, geologist and winemaker who has been instrumental in reviving abandoned vineyards in Georgia.

The pair met and became close friends when Legeron was filming in Georgia for her show called That Crazy French Woman.

The wine is made from organic Rkatsiteli grapes grown in Kakheti, eastern Georgia, in the foothills of the Caucasus.

“Our fun experiment has yielded a grand total of 1000 bottles, a portion of which recently arrived in the UK,” said Legeron about Lagvini.

Lagvini is made using Rkatsiteli

“We want to push the current production status quo in Georgia with the aim of producing the finest wine possible in this extraordinary country,” she added.

Lagvini is listed in a number of London restaurants including Pollen Street Social, Tom Aikens, The Zetter Hotel, Sketch, Antidote, Hibiscus and Elliot’s, and will be on offer at RAW, London’s artisan wine fair founded by Legeron, which takes place 19-20 May at the Old Truman Brewery.
