BrewDog opens new bar in Bristol

BrewDog, Scotland’s largest independent brewery has opened BrewDog Bristol, its ninth craft beer bar.

The brewery, which rose to fame thanks to its efforts in brewing the world’s strongest beer, said the beer was opened after a “groundswell of craft beer fans” in Bristol.

BrewDog co-founder James Watt, who gave a nod to Bristol’s buccaneering heritage by arriving at BrewDog Bristol on a makeshift pirate ship, said: “Bristol has always been a prime target for a BrewDog bar; there has always been a solid community of craft beer fans and we’ve been regularly lobbied by them on our blog to choose Bristol as our next location.”

As well as offering BrewDog’s own ales the BrewDog Bristol, which has a capacity of 90, will also showcase draught beers from around the world including Mikkeller, Evil Twin, The Kernel, Flying Dog, Rouge and Ballast Point.

The Bristol bar is second that BrewDog have opened this month, after BrewDog Shoreditch opened its doors; in typically understated style the brewers projected themselves onto the Houses of Parliament to mark that opening.

Watt added: “We have lit the fuse on a revolution that has already redefined beer in the UK, with Bristol the latest city to embrace mutiny and reject the mainstream mega corporations currently ruling the drinks industry with an iron fist stuffed full of marketing cash.”

BrewDog is planning to open bars in Birmingham and Leeds before January.
