Arzak rumours of London launch
Speculation is mounting that three-Michelin-starred Basque restaurant Arzak is about to open a branch in London.

Juan Mari Arzak, who runs the San Sebastian restaurant with his daughter Elena, is believed to be in discussions with the five star Halkin Hotel in Belgravia.
Owned by Como Hotels and Resorts, the Halkin is shortly due to close its Thai restaurant Nahm, which lost its Michelin star in 2011.
While a hotel spokesman told the drinks business he was unable to “share any information” about plans for a replacement restaurant, he did not dispel the rumour, but confirmed only that an official announcement would be made soon.
Having held its third Michelin star since 1987, Arzak has been run by the same family for four generations and has built a reputation for transforming traditional Basque recipes and flavours into a heightened sensory experience.
This year saw Arzak ranked 8th in The World’s 50 Best Restaurants 2012, with Elena, who has previously trained at London restaurant Le Gavroche, named The World’s Best Female Chef 2012.
