Obama makes campaign pledge on beer recipe

President Barack Obama has given strong indications that the White House beer recipe will be released soon.

Speaking in an online question and answer session with young voters on the social network reddit as part of the presidential campaign, Obama was asked if the authorities could publish the recipe – the subject of much speculation in recent weeks. The answer from the President was, in summary  – “yes, we can”.

In reply to the question on the “Ask me Anything” chat, Obama said: “It will be out soon! I can tell from first hand experience, it is tasty.”

Activists have already filed a petition on the White House website, demanding the release of the recipe. To date, more than 10,000 signatures have been added to the petition.

However, it wasn’t made clear which recipe might be released. The White House brews several beers in an on-site micro-brewery, including a Honey Ale, Honey Porter and Honey Blonde Ale.

One thing is known already – the honey used in the beers comes from First Lady Michele Obama’s own bee hives in her White House garden.

Obama was also asked in the online session about how he managed to maintain a work-life balance in his schedule. The President said he was lucky enough not to have a commute and could make it home every night he was in town for an evening meal with his family.

And, presumably, the occasional cold beer.
