London gets a taste of the Deep South

Hot on the heels of the recent US steak house boom, Lowcountry Bar & Eating House is bringing London a fresh slant on American cuisine.

Due to open in Fulham, south west London, on 17 May, the venue will serve a range of “simple, seasonal” dishes from the southern states.

Head chef Jennifer Ryan, who previously worked at a fine dining restaurant in St Louis, Missouri, has put together a menu of dishes ranging from she crab soup with jumbo crab meat to a “Pinot Noir” burger, andouille sausage and classic puddings such as pecan pie.

A separate bar menu will offer snacks from the Deep South, including spare ribs and skillet corn bread with honey pecan butter. A weekend brunch menu will feature a selection of omelettes, pancakes and traditional cooked breakfasts, while the restaurant will also house a “raw bar”, serving crab, oyster and lobster.

Lowcountry’s 280 covers extends to a large outdoor seating area, complete with barbeque and its own smokehouse.

Details of the drinks list are yet to be unveiled, but it seems reasonable to expect a decent bourbon selection in keeping with the Deep South theme.
