Celebration service arranged for Alan

A service of celebration for Alan Lodge, who died of a brain haemorrhage on 17 February, will be held on Friday 9 March in Kent.

The service will take place at 2pm at Coney Hill Baptist Church, on Coney Hill Road, West Wickham, Kent, BR4 9BU, and will follow a cremation at 12.45 at Beckenham Crematorium.

Members of the drinks trade who would like to come to the celebration service are welcome, and please let us know if you are planning to attend by emailing Rupert Millar, rupert.millar@thedrinksbusiness.com

The Coney Hill Baptist Church, which seats 250 with additional standing room if necessary, is a ten-minute walk from Hayes train station. Alan’s family have added: “Please don’t feel the need to wear black.”

After the service, all are welcome to join the family in the church hall for refreshments. From 6pm onwards, there will be a further gathering to raise a glass to Alan at The Pickhurst pub, Pickhurst Lane, West Wickham, BR4 0HH, where an area has been reserved for the evening.

Alan, who was news and web editor of the drinks business and deputy editor of The Spirits Business, was just 29 years old when he died of a brain haemorrhage.

His parents have donated his brain to the neurology department at King’s College London for research purposes.
