Chapoutier creates wines for Le Gavroche

Chef Michel Roux jr and winemaker Michel Chapoutier have collaborated on two wines exclusively for Roux’s London restaurant Le Gavroche.

The red and white wines are farmed on some of Chapoutier’s organic and biodynamic vineyards in the Ardeche and Languedoc regions and will only be available at the chef’s two-starred Michelin restaurant in Mayfair.

The red is a Syrah/Grenache blend from the Languedoc and the white a Viognier from the volcanic soils of the Ardeche’s Coirons plateau.

Roux said: “I have always wanted to make a Le Gavroche wine; something that would complement our food and reflect the great heritage of our restaurant.

“I knew, that if we ever did get round to it, Chapoutier would definitely be the man for the job and I think everyone who tastes our wines will agree that we’ve managed to create something pretty special.”

The Le Gavroche red will be priced at £34 a bottle and the white at £32.
