There is no doubt that Berry Bros & Rudd have transformed themselves from traditional to 21st century in the past few years and they have done it while still retaining a unique sense of heritage and developing the best modern business practice techniques.

Particularly commended by the judges was the remarkable transformation by Berry Bros & Rudd to their online business over recent years, earning them an award for their special contribution to wine retailing.

The overhaul of the retailer’s website includes sections for a virtual wine school, “podcasks” and a fine wine blog. Judges were impressed by the company’s use of technology, “while retaining the same feeling and wine credentials”. It was acknowledged that “it would have been easy to rest on their laurels, but they haven’t”.

Said one judge, “If only more wine companies who are involved in retailing could be as clever in the way they interact with consumers and make their business truly relevant.”
