Australia’s Petaluma returns to UK market

Australian wine brand Petaluma is making a return to the UK market after after a four year absence, appointing Bancroft Wines its exclusive UK distributor.

Based in the Adelaide Hills, Petaluma was last represented in the UK four years ago by Bibendum. This month it will make its return to the UK with Bancroft Wines.

“Petaluma is one of the iconic brands of modern Australian wine and we are delighted to re-introduce it to those who remember it fondly, whilst also being able to present the range to a whole new generation of consumer”, said  David Murphy, head of purchasing at Bancroft Wines.

Established in 1976, Petaluma became known for its Riesling produced from its Hanlin Hill Vineyard in Clare Valley. During its absence from the UK market, Petaluma has invested in building a new winery in Adelaide Hill’s Woodside, increasing its producing capacity to 2,000 tonnes of fruit, compared with just 150 in 1976.

Petaluma’s flagship Yellow Label range included the Hanlin Hill Clare Valley Riesling, Piccadilly Valley Chardonnay, Evans Vineyard Coonawarra Cabernet.

The most recent-edition to the yellow label range is an Adelaide Hills B&V Vineyard Shiraz. Bancroft Wines will offer all four yellow label wines, as well as the more premium, single vineyard Tiers Chardonnay of which only 200 to 400 cases are made annually.
