Prince William ‘drank wine as a child’

Prince William drank wine “all the time” as a young child with the permission of his mother, Princess Diana, according to former newspaper editor Piers Morgan.

The British Royal Prince, who with wife Kate became the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge when they were married in 2011, is said to have drank wine from as young as 13.

The young Prince begged for wine from his mother, the late Princess Diana, and said that he drank it “all the time”, former newspaper editor Piers Morgan revealed.

Mr Morgan, now a TV presenter and columnist, told of the encounter as he quoted from his diaries in a column for the Daily Mail this week.

A former editor of the now defunct British newspaper the News of the World and The Mirror, Mr Morgan was attending a private lunch with Princess Diana in the mid-1990’s when he saw the 13-year-old Prince William demanding to have the drink.

“It was a surreal experience”, Morgan wrote, “just the three of us and a PR lady sat around a table in Diana’s apartment, being served by her infamous butler Paul Burrell [who has become a controversial media figure since Diana’s death].”

“William’s always been headstrong. During that lunch we had, I remember him asking Diana: ‘Can I have some wine, Mummy?’”, the diary reads.

“‘No William, whatever are you thinking?’ she replied, with an indignant face of faux horror.

“‘But Mummy, I drink it all the time,’ he retorted.

“‘Er, no you don’t,’ she snapped, ‘and you can’t have any…’

“‘Yes I can,’ he chuckled with a mischievous grin.

“And he did.”

Agree, So what?, regarding the wine. Seems the prince was a brat, however. Hope he has outgrown that.
