Wine handbag touted as Mother’s Day gift

4th March, 2016 by Neal Baker

A boxed wine that is very discreetly disguised as a fashionable handbag has gone on sale just in time for Mother’s Day this weekend.

The Vernissage tote bag holds the equivalent of two bottles of wine and even has a handy nozzle for quick pouring on the go.

The £30 wine box comes in a range of grape varieties and each wine is packaged with a different design – so fashion taste would need to match with wine taste when deciding which to choose.

Sold by online retailer Firebox, the “classy, camouflaged booze bags” are filled with French wines from the Pays d’Oc region comprising of a Syrah/Cabernet Sauvignon blend, a Chardonnay/Viognier blend and a sparkling Rosé.

“Whether you’re gossiping with the girls during a Sex and the City style night-in, or digging your high-heels out of the mud after a delightful day at the races; you’ll always be sipping in style,” a Firebox spokesperson said of the range.

“With it’s distinctly designer-style, the bag looks like it’s come straight off the catwalk. But rest assured that the wine inside is sourced from the finest French wineries (likely located on some preposterously picturesque estate) and more than matches this high-end Wine Handbag.

“Whether Red, White or sparkling Rosé, everyone knows that the finest wine comes in a bag”.

Customers beware though – while passers-by may be fooled into thinking it is just an ultra-luxurious fashion item, the bag can’t actually hold anything else other than the 1.5 litres of wine it comes with.
