Vinisud readies for opening

International Mediterranean Wine and Spirits exhibition, Vinisud, is set to open next week for its 12th incarnation.

Starting next Monday, 15 February, in Montpellier and lasting until Wednesday 17 February, the show will feature just over 1,700 exhibitors from across the south of France as well as Spain, Italy, Portugal, Algeria, Morocco, Greece, Croatia, Bulgaria and the Lebanon.

Wines from these regions account for around 53% of the world’s wine production and 76% of global rosé sales.

Generic stands at the exhibition will include a ‘Sparkling Zone’ with over 200 sparkling wines to taste, ‘Mediterranean Expression’ featuring rare and unusual Mediterranean grape varieties and various masterclasses and presentations on a number of topics.

Vinisud stated: “Faced with increasingly standardised production at global level, the Mediterranean vineyards are stepping up their initiatives to set themselves apart while at the same time adding value to their production: alongside the commercial success of rosé and sparkling wines, they have become influential trendsetters.

“The latest products, innovations and topics presented at Vinisud will build on this momentum.”
