Details of ‘Berserker Day’ announced

Online forum ‘Wine Berserkers’ has announced the details for its seventh ‘Berserker Day’ event.

The event is taking place on the Wine Berserkers forum on Wednesday, 27 January and is free to attend for all participants.

The event is designed to allow members of the food and wine trade to “connect directly” with the forum’s users.

Wine Berserker’s founder, Todd French, explained: “Each year, on 27 January, the day WB was founded, I invite wineries, retailers, and other peddlers of the wine industry to offer berserk deals on their wares.

“Deals are posted throughout the day, every five minutes, ending with an auction of extra-special lots several of which are wine-related items that you cannot find in stores at any price. This day of deals is a fantastic way for those in the business to give back to consumers – and for consumers to discover new and exciting producers and wines.”

So far over 80 wineries and wine retailers and distributors have signed up for the event, as well as food purveyors selling everything from steak to olive oils and all of them will be offering discounts on their various products. Thirty items, including wine, will be up for sale through online auctions as well.

Last year Berserker Day saw 15,000 unique visitors on the site and over US$500,000 worth of stock sold and this year is expected to be even larger.

The event will start at 10am (US Eastern Standard Time) and end at 10pm.
