The Chivas Masters HK in pictures

With enough beards, braces and booze to make one think whisky was going out of fashion, Chivas Regal hosted its 2016 Hong Kong Chivas Masters competition in new speakeasy bar, Foxglove on Ice House street.

Now in its third year, the competition saw saw seven Hong Kong bartenders blend Chivas Regal 12 into cocktails around three themes: Classic, Local, and Shanghai and culminated in the victory of Dave Lam from Quinary and his three cocktails, The Amber Appointment, Yuan Yang and The Chivas Brothers.

Beckaly Franks, the bartender and brains behind cool late night drinking den, the Pontiac measures out a generous pour of Chivas 12 as the first step.

The Foxglove’s own Bikal Ghale adds a dash of Cointreau to the Chivas 12 with a solitary maraschino cherry .

Nawraj Gurung from Maximal Concept add the finishing touches of Angostura bitters to his delightfully pink cocktails accented with rosebuds.

The judges’ favourite! Dave Lam from Quinary created the Yuan Yang – inspired by Hong Kong’s classic tea/coffee combo which simply features 50ml Chivas 12 yrs and 30ml Chivas-infused condensed milk served alongside buttered bread as a take on the classic Hong Kong breakfast.

Crowning the winner! Dave Lam surrounded by his bartending buds wins a place at the Chivas Masters final in 2016 in Shanghai as well as a rather natty Chivas luggage set.
