Perfect Cellar pushes Spanish offering

London-based wine retailer and supplier Perfect Cellar is creating a “vast” new Spanish range for its trade and online portfolio, its head buyer has revealed.

Recent additions to its range include award-winning wines from Toro’s Teso La Monja and Rioja Alavesa producer Vinedos de Paganos.

Wine is also being sourced from Montilla-Moriles producer Bodegas del Pino, which is exporting out of the UK for the first time after “centuries of being in the Shadow of Jerez”, head buyer Natalia P Dickson said.

“The diversity of the Spanish wine category is perfect for the UK market,” she went on to say. “We look to nurture the classical regions such as Rioja and Rias Biaxas as well as the up and coming stars. We have listened to our customers and responded to their needs.”

Perfect Cellar has plans in 2016 to make Perfect Cellar the “go-to importer of Spanish wine for the on-trade and online retail”, the company said.

Speaking about the nature of the UK market, Natalia continued: “Customers demand more diversity of wine [in the UK]. They’re tired of the key brands within exhausted categories, and where quality has been compromised.

“They’re willing to spend a little bit more and expect better quality… We offer diversity within the traditional Spanish categories and value for money. Our customers are the judge of value and when a bottle flies of the shelves, we know we’ve chosen well.”

Explaining Perfect Cellar’s approach to managing suppliers, she continued: “We offer support to our winemakers by relaying the response from our customers. We want to provide added value, which may be a marketing and PR capacity or in packaging and style.”

Perfect Cellar boasts the exclusivity it has with its producers. All wines are shipped directly from the source, making which can keep prices competitive.

By using a storage facility in central London they are able to offer next day delivery to their trade clients.

Dickson recently joined Perfect Cellar after experience at other well-known importers including Enotria, The Cooperative and Waverley TBS.
