Budweiser launches Christmas jumper

Budweiser beer has launched a Christmas jumper promotion with UK retailer Tesco in support of an online campaign over the festive period.

Consumers that purchase a 20-bottle case or 18-can case of Budweiser through Tesco’s online store have the chance to win one of 1,500 Budweiser Christmas jumpers.

The promotion, running until 16 December, will also be supported by Budweiser’s social media sites and web advertising.

The brand, owned by Belgium-based AB Inbev, is using Twitter and Facebook to “demonstrate the perks that come with enjoying Budweiser responsibly over the festive period” and to introduce #BudWiseMen hashtag.

Social media activity, including pictures of the “Bud Wise Men”, will provide a direct link to the Tesco website.

Webpage banners and online adverts will also publicise the promotion. The online adverts will appear across lifestyle and news sites, and will direct consumers to the Tesco webpage where they can purchase the packs of Budweiser.

Webpage banners will appear across the Tesco site, back-linking to the Budweiser offer.

Parent company AB Inbev’s merger with rival SABMiller, agreed last month, will see it become one of the largest consumer goods producers in the world, with control of around one in three beer sales worldwide.

Budweiser is one of AB’s flagship brands, along with Stella Artois, Corona and Becks. It was revealed yesterday that as part of its £71bn SABMiller merger, AB would be selling off its rival’s Peroni and Grolsch brands in an effort to win over regulatory approval for the takeover.
