Angove introduces premium XO releases into Asia market

McLaren Vale winery Angove debuted its new St Agnes XO Imperial 20 year old and Grand Reserve 40 year old at this year’s HK International Wine and Spirits Fair.

Speaking to the drinks business HK, Mark Ramm, Angove Family Winemakers’ regional export manager, said: “This will be the first time these new premium spirits have ventured into Asia and it coincides with the brand’s 90th anniversary.

“We’re excited to now be moving into a new territory of rare, luxury and unique goods. We have a clear purpose, and that is to do one thing brilliantly, to show the world another face of Australian produce excellence by crafting an iconic Australian spirit of world-class standard.”

The St Agnes XO Imperial 20 Year Old won this year’s “Best Grape Brandy” award at the Hong Kong International Wine and Spirits Competition while the St Agnes XO Grand Reserve 40 Year Old has spent four decades in small oak with “chocolate truffles, hazelnut, prune, almond and cigarbox tobacco on the palate,” said Ramm.

Distributed in Hong Kong through Fine Vintage Asia, the two releases were previously launched in Australia in August of this year, the same day as third generation winemaker and distiller Tom Angove’s birthday and Ramm says the company is excited to raise and re-position Australian brandy not only in the Australian market, but the spirit market globally.

“The team at St Agnes Distillery is exceptionally proud of these new releases. They represent a uniquely Australian take on the timeless luxury and prestige of XO, and we can’t wait to show them off to Australia, Asia and the rest of the world.”
