Carlsberg UK names new CEO

The Carlsberg Group has announced a change in leadership for Carlsberg UK following the departure of James Lousada as CEO.

Michiel J. Herkemij will take on the role on an interim basis, whose recent assignments include CEO roles within British American Tobacco, Sara Lee and Heineken.

Lousada has held the position of CEO since January 2014. During that time he has re-launched Carlsberg’s “probably” campaign in the UK and represented Carlsberg UK and the Group as a board member of both the British Beer & Pub Association, and of the Portman Group.

Jørn Tolstrup Rohde, Carlsberg’s SVP for Western Europe, thanks Lousada for his efforts while “leading Carlsberg UK through a period of many changes”, but that the company had decided that a “new type of leadership is required to take Carlsberg UK forward”.

James Lousada added: “The time is now right for a new direction within Carlsberg UK and to have a change in leadership to deliver that. I have thoroughly enjoyed my time leading a dedicated and committed team that strive every day to put the customer at the heart of everything they do.”

The search for a permanent CEO for Carlsberg UK will start immediately.
