Badet Clément buys Languedoc domaine

Burgundian négociant Badet Clément has strengthened its foothold in the Languedoc with the purchase of Domaine de la Métairie d’Alon.

Domaine de la Métairie d’Alon

Previously owned by Jean-Louis Denois, Domaine de la Métairie d’Alon covers 25 hectares and is described by Badet Clément, the producer of Delauney and Les Jamelles, as having “exceptional potential”.

Cultivating a mix of organic and biodynamic vineyards, the domaine is situated at altitude in the high valley of the Aude in the communes of Magrie and Limoux. Its vineyards are made up of 50% Chardonnay and 50% Pinot Noir grapes.

“We’ve been looking for a vineyard to buy for years which able to produce top quality Pinot Noir and Chardonnay”, said Badet Clément’s co-founder Laurent Delaunay. “In Domaine de la Métairie d’Alon we believe we’ve finally found the exceptional terroirs that we’ve been searching for.”

Its acquisition follows the purchase of the former Monze cave co-operative in the Aude department at the beginning of 2015, and marks another big new step for Badet Clément into the Languedoc region.

The wines of Métairie d’Alon will be integrated into the Abbotts & Delaunay Collection and, from the 2015 harvest, the majority grapes will be vinified in “hi-tech” cellar at the new Monze site, which is still in the final stages of being renovated.
