Havana Club launches first HK cocktail project

Havana Club and the Lobster Bar and Grill in the Island Shangri La have teamed up to create “Havana Club Inspirations” and have launched two new premium bottlings to the hotel’s portfolio.

As part of its first ever cocktail collaboration, Havana Club has released two premium offerings, Selección de Maestros and Havana Club Unión which are inspired by the Havana Club range, Añejo 3 Años and Añejo 7 Años and Anejo Special to the Island Shangri-La’s rum collection.

Four new cocktails have also been mixed by Agung Prabowo (pictured), the bar manager of the Lobster Bar and Grill: Sloppy Joe’s Mojito, First Cuban, Cuba Libre and Old Cubanos.

The first bottling, Selección de Maestros was created by the “Maestros Roneros” – the guild of master craftsmen and is a blend of the “finest” aged rums matured in selected oak barrels.

The Havana Club Unión, a  new high-end rum that is designed to be paired with Cuban cigars and is the result of a collaboration between Havana Club’s Maestro Ronero, Asbel Morales, and Cuba’s leading cigar sommelier, Fernando Fernández. It is a blend of spirit bases chosen by Morales, who also hand-picked the barrels in which it was aged.

The Havana Club Inspirations cocktail promotion will run until 28 September at the Lobster Bar and Grill at the Island Shangri-La.

Inspired by the Selección de Maestros, Old Cubanos has a nose of “nose of toasted pecan and spice, Pedro Ximénez sherry and chocolate bitters.”
