West Sussex vineyard now open for weddings

Highdown Vineyard has become the first vineyard in West Sussex where wine lovers can tie the knot after winning a licence from the local country council.

The estate had previously hosted wedding receptions in its barn overlooking the vines but is now fully licenced to offer civil wedding ceremonies.

The first wedding is due to take place at the estate on 27 August. The pair were so keen to get married there that they waited for the licence to be granted before saying I do.

As you’d expect, Highdown wines will be served at the wedding, including Rambling Rosé, a sparkling wine created with weddings in mind.

Located on the South Downs between Littlehampton and Worthing, the estate is owned by Paul and Aly Englefield, who ventured into the wine industry in 2010.

Founded in 1985, the estate is planted with Rondo, Dornfelder, Pinot Noir, Bacchus, Schonberger, Reichensteiner and Chardonnay.
