A 13.4% growth in value sales and a 72% boost in pre-tax profits has been welcomed by Italian spirits producer Gruppo Campari.

Sales performance in the Americas, which account for 42% of the group’s trade, was particularly impressive, growing 19.4% on the back of its high-selling Wild Turkey whiskey brand.

In its report, the company also points to a trend for “Italian specialties” in the US, where its Aperol aperitif grew well.

Russian volatility has had a knock-on effect in Northern, Central and Eastern Europe, but elsewhere in the continent and the Middle East performance sales were good, growing 12.9%.

Asia Pacific, the smallest market for the company at just 7% of group trade, still saw sales increase by 15.9%.

Bob Kunze-Concewitz, the company’s CEO, said the results paint a positive picture for the year ahead.

“In terms of organic sales growth, the performance of the key brand-market combinations was solid and in line with expectations.

“Looking forward, we are on track to achieve a positive full year performance,” he said.
