The appointment is part of a series of activities celebrating the 300th anniversary of the Cognac house, which it is dubbing its Tricentenaire.

As well as local events in more than 30 cities worldwide, Martell will be hosting a celebration at the Palace of Versailles on 20th May at which Kruger will be a guest of honour, alongside 300 of the brand’s top clients and partners.

Kruger will also be taking part in the “Martell France300” project, which aims to identify 300 “ones-to-watch” around the world in the disciplines of gastronomy, art, fashion, mixology and entertainment.

An actor and model, Kruger was born in Germany and divides her time between LA, Vancouver and Paris, although she is a “self-confessed Francophile” according to Martell.

Commenting on the Martell France300 project, she said, “I think this initiative in recognition of emerging French talent, is the perfect way for Martell Cognac to celebrate their 300th anniversary this year…and I’m delighted to be a part of it.”

The complete Martell France300 list will be announced in June 2015.

On the 300th anniversary year for Martell, CEO Philippe Guettat said, “There is much to celebrate in this hugely exciting year for Martell. From the Martell France300 project, to the incredible celebration we have to come at the Palace of Versailles, this is going to be an enormously exciting year for the brand.”

Established in 1715, Martell is the oldest of the great Cognac houses. In the operating year 2013/14, it sold 1.9 million cases, dropping 9% in value, making it the second largest Cognac brand in volume and value.
