Lunch with Robert Parker up for grabs

Robert Parker is offering a private lunch for 11 guests with him and 24 bottles from his cellar at a charity auction in Washington DC later this month.

Jamie Ritchie at last year’s auction

The Heart’s Delight Wine Tasting & Auction, now in its sixteenth year, is taking place this month on Friday 24 April and lunch with Parker will be one of the lots alongside large formats that have been consigned from the cellars of Cos d’Estournel, Lynch Bages and Pontet-Canet among others, trips to Bordeaux, Tuscany, Chile and Oregon and elsewhere and a Sine Qua Non Dinner for eight.

The live auction on the 24th will be conducted by Sotheby’s Jamie Ritchie during the Vintners Dinner which will feature the wines of Cheval Blanc and Yquem presented by Pierre Lurton.

Parker has offered lunches before as he and The Wine Advocate have been supporters of the charity event since 1999 though he lasted attended in 2009.

The lunch lot has never gone for less than US$25,000 and Parker has made this the minimum bid for this year. All proceeds go to the American Heart Association and the Heart’s Delight event has raised over US$13m for the association.

The lucky 11 will dine with the critic at one of Jose Andres’ restaurants in Washington DC. For more information and to see all of the lots, click here.
