Diner leaves waiter $25k tip to fix teeth

A waiter’s decaying teeth have been transformed thanks to a benevolent diner who left him a life-changing US$25,000 tip for much-needed dental work.

Brian Maixner, a waiter at the Doo-Dah Diner in Wichita, has suffered with decaying teeth ever since a chipped tooth became infected and he was unable to keep up with the cost of dental treatments.

Fred Boettcher, an attorney from Oklahoma, was at the diner eating with his family when he noticed something “special” in the waiter, as reported by KWCH 12, but could see that his mouth looked painful.

“He carried himself with such kindness and confidence with a mouth that looked painful. I was struck by that,” Boettcher said.

Before leaving the diner, Mr Boettcher asked Maixner’s boss if it would be ok to pay to fix his teeth at a cost of around $25,000 – an offer that caused the waiter to break down in tears.

“This man doesn’t know me and this is something I could never afford to do for myself. I touched me so much that he cared,” Maixner said.

Since the offer, Maixner made several trips to Ponca City to visit Boettcher’s dentist who has preformed several thousand dollars worth of work transforming his decaying teeth into an impressive set of pearly whites.

“No matter what religion you might be or whether you even believe in an after life the way to be satisfied in your life is to be kind to everybody and be as generous as you possibly can be,” Boettcher told KWCH.
