IWSC launches hunt for rising star

The International Wine & Spirits Competition and Waitrose have opened nominations for the 2015 Julian Brind Memorial Award for Outstanding Achievement.

The late Julian Brind MW, in whose memory the award was set up

Established in tribute to the late Waitrose wine buyer and IWSC judge Julian Brind MW, the award seeks to recognise “a candidate with an established track record in their career so far, whilst still seen to be ‘going places’. The candidate will already be branching out into the wider aspects of the wine trade, showing commitment and determination in everything they do.”

Last year saw the prize go to Selfridges’ head of wine and spirits, Dawn Davies, who manages the luxury retailer’s 2,000-strong range across four stores and online, as well as five restaurant wine lists.

Nominations for the 2015 award can be submitted online or via email to Louise Bolton by 19 March, with the winner announced at the IWSC Annual Awards Banquet in London on 26 November.
