Residents in Naoussa will see water turned to wine for the celebrations as the city’s local fountain, located in the city’s central square, is filled with wine in a bid to get locals in the mood to party, as reported by the Greek Reporter.

VAENI, an agricultural and winemaking co-operative that is organising the event, hopes to use the stunt to attract more visitors to the city and establish Naoussa as Greece’s ultimate “Wine City”.

The dry red wine used in the fountain is made from the Xinomavro grape.
