Californian wines ‘then and now’ selected

The labels for next month’s California wine seminar on the stylistic evolution among the state’s Chardonnays and Cabs have been selected.

In an attempt to highlight the change, the London-based event will include Chardonnays from Hanzell in comparison to Copain, and Cabernet Sauvignons from Ridge alongside Viader, among other wines listed under the headings ‘then’ and ‘now’ (see below).

As previously reported by the drinks business, the event has been organised to consider examples from traditional producers alongside some newer players who are making wines in a different manner.

Led by Mark de Vere MW, the seminar will take place at the Go West US wines tasting on March 9 at 11.30am, and you can register your interest here.

Speaking to the drinks business ahead of the event, he said, “There is a sense that there is a need to remind the [UK] trade that there are new producers; it is necessary to show that the Californian wine industry is new and exciting,”
