Carlos Perez, 35, received the generous tip after a particularly busy afternoon service with at the Pazzo! restaurant in Florida, as reported by newsnet5.com.

The unidentified couple, who said they were former restaurant workers, first ordered one of the most expensive bottles of wine on the menu before requesting that the chef whip up a veal marsala, even though it wasn’t on the menu, slipping a $20 bill to the chef.

The chef prepared the meal at no extra cost.

As a thank you the couple asked what the chef’s favourite beer was and asked to have two cases of Corona Light added to their bill for the staff – priced at $240.

But their generosity didn’t stop there.

The couple also left a $1,500 tip for Perez to fix up his 2004 Honda Civic, which he told the couple had blown a gasket after they had questioned him on what he would do if he had some money.

Perez tried to refuse the tip but the man insisted, telling him to use it to fix his car.

The waiter later told newsnet5: “It’s confirmed that I’m doing what I’m supposed to be doing, and the way I’m doing it is obviously appreciated.”
