London Wine Experience toasts third year

More than 2,000 visitors poured into Chelsea’s Saatchi Gallery last month for the third London Wine Experience, organised by French wine critics Bettane + Desseauve.

The drinks business Global Masters stand at the London Wine Experience.

Held on 24 and 25 of October and organised by wine critics Michel Bettane and Thierry Desseauve, wines from more than 60 producers including Ruinart, Taittinger, Château Branaire-Ducru, Domaine des Perdrix, Domaine Laroche, Masciarelli, Roberto Voerzio were available to sample.

More than 10 private tastings took place including a vertical tasting of wines from Château Latour, a Riedel masterclass to understand how a glass can emphasise your perception an enjoyment of wine and a tasting dedicated to Ruinart rosé champagnes.

Michel Bettane said of this year’s event: “We are continuing to organise high level master classes devoted either to great winemakers or built around a theme encompassing exceptional wines. We also think that great wines deserve to be presented in an exceptional place: the Saatchi Gallery is a magical place, just like the Louvre where we have been organising our French wine event for the past eight years.”

In addition, 29 of the best wines entered into the drinks business Global Masters Awards – a competition in which wines are judged blind based on grape, eliminating any prejudice about their country of origin – were also available to sample.

The wines showcased had all achieved either a gold or master medal in the Global Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Noir, Cabernet Sauvignon or rosé Masters.

Thierry Desseauve added: “The London Wine Experience is a festival of great wines in the same way as the great music or cinema festivals and all of the producers exhibiting are selected on the quality of their production. With our team of wine experts, we taste tens of thousands of different wines every year from all over the world with the aim of presenting them to the public”.
