As the deadline for entering the drinks business Rioja Masters 2014 draws close, we take a look at the wines judged to be top of their category in last year’s competition.

The competition, now in its third year, recognises the finest Rioja on the world stage with an expert panel tasked with judging dozens of wines from the region blind within six categories; Joven, Crianza, Reserva, Gran Reserva, Vinos de autor and Rioja 15 years and older.
The judging panel, chaired by the drinks business, will be composed exclusively of Master of Wine, Master Sommeliers and buyers who will award the best wines with medals ranging from Bronze through to Gold, with the opportunity to be rewarded with a Master for exceptional wines.
The results will be published in the Spanish Report and the drinks business Hong Kong edition.
The deadline for entries is 31 October, 2014, with an administration fee of £140 charged per wine entered.
