Top 10 wines in the UK press

11th August, 2014 by Lauren Eads

2013 Château Le Bernet Blanc, Graves, Bordeaux, France

image_2350612_fullKicking off this week’s round up Matthew Jukes, writing in the Daily Mail, recommended six “exceptional wines” to pair with crab, including this French white.

He said: “If you are looking for a racy, refreshing, zesty white with cool, calm, citrus notes and a tangy finish to cut through the Spiced potted crab recipe then this is a beauty. Don’t forget that well-chosen white wines from Graves usually offer much better value than the more familiar Sauvignon Blancs from Sancerre and Pouilly-Fumé!”

Price: £9, Sainsbury’s

  1. il Lambrusco says:

Lambrusco has always been RED or rose’, secco and at least 11% alcohol in Emilia and Matova.

Those sweet “white” (bianco, 4% alc.) and 7/8% alc. rosso/rosato versions were invented by a US wine importers for US wine consumers in the 70s. You won’t find them at Osteria Francescana or any other restaurants in Modena, Reggio Emilia and Bologna.
