Tesco begins big wine clearance
Tesco is offering discounts up to 64% on a wide range of lines from Austrian Riesling to 20 year-old Madeira as part of a wine warehouse clear-out.
The sale started yesterday and will run until midnight on Tuesday 2 September, with all the discounted lines available to purchase via the Tesco’s website Wine by the Case.
The minimum order size is six bottles and the retailer claims the sale has been instigated “in preparation for Christmas”.
Tesco has highlighted sale items such as 2008 Château Camensac, Haut-Medoc which is reduced by 46% from £179.94 to £96.48 (equivalent to £16.08/bottle), Chapel Hill’s 2010 McLaren Vale Grenache, which is down by 43%, from £107.94 to £61.86 per case (equivalent to £10.31/bottle) and the 1998 Château Grand Pontet, which was £240.00 per case and is now available for £149.28 (equivalent to £24.88/bottle), a reduction of 28%.
However, db is more tempted by the Taittinger Brut Vintage 2004 for just over £28 a bottle, and the Domaine FL Savennieres “Roche aux Moines” 2007 for a £24, as well as the Loimer Seeberg Riesling 2010 for a little under £19, and the Henriques & Henriques 20 year-old Terrantez Madeira for just under £20 for a 75cl bottle.
