First UV energy tablet cocktail to launch

A US entrepreneur is to launch what he claims is the world’s first  “tablet cocktail mixer” producing a beverage that glows under UV lighting and boosts energy levels.

XUVO Cosmic Apple

XUVO is an effervescent tablet that can be mixed with alcohol, vodka or white rum, and water added to create lightly carbonated UV-reactive mixed drinks that glow under a blacklight.

Available in four flavours; Neon Mojito, Electric Blue Hawaiian, Orange Buzz and Cosmic Apple, the tablet can be split in half allowing imbibers to combine two flavours into one drink with half of the Electric Blue Hawaiian and half of the Neon Mojito, for example, resulting in a XUVO Hawaiian Mojito.

The tablet also contains energy boosting caffeine, taurine, guarana and B-Vitamins making it one of the first energy drink cocktails.

Its creator, musician Killian Wells, came up with the idea in his recording studio.

He said: “Being the only product of its kind is helping us to carve a niche in the alcoholic beverage industry.

“I wanted a cocktail flavored energy drink to help fuel my creativity during long studio sessions.”

“Then I thought, wouldn’t it be cool if I could take it one step further and get these drinks to light up?”

Wells got in touch with a team of scientists and after three years of research and development is now raising funds to launch the product via crowdfunding site Indiegogo.

All are sugar-free, gluten free, and vegan with only 10 or less calories and 3 grams of carbs in each tablet, excluding added alcohol.

XUVO already has a deal with alcohol delivery app Nestdrop, three months before its planned launch, with the app’s co-founder, Michael Pycher, calling it an “easy decision” to take on XUVO which it said would bring “innovation” to its customers.

The product is set to launch in the US in November with a tube of ten tablets planned to retail for $9.99, with its deal with Nestdrop allowing consumers to order XUVO and spirits on their phones and have it delivered to their door in under an hour.

While XUVO will initially roll out in retail stores, Wells said he has ambitions for it to become available in clubs, bars, airlines, and even bowling alleys to compliment “cosmic bowling”.

“I want people to be able to go into a club and ask for a XUVO and vodka,” he said.
