Coppola launches lower alcohol wine

Francis Ford Coppola has launched a lower alcohol wine range called Gia after his granddaughter, Gia Coppola, who was instrumental in crafting the look and taste of the new wines.

The new range of wines have 11.5% abv

Comprising a Frizzante Chardonnay, a Pinot Grigio and a Pinot Noir, the “Gia by Gia Coppola” wines have been created by Gia with Francis and the winemaking team to reflect her preferred wine style.

“Wine was always on the table growing up and so I learned about the family business at a young age,” said Gia Coppola.

“I wanted these wines to reflect my style: I enjoy light, easy-to-drink wines that are low in alcohol,” she added.

Francis Ford Coppola winemaker Corey Beck and his team worked alongside Gia for several months to create the wines.

Commenting on the process, Beck said, “We intentionally crafted them to be lower in alcohol, with each one at a mere 11.5%, and, as a result, low in calories – a quality that appeals to Gia and offers consumers fun, approachable wines.”

Gia was also heavily involved in the packaging of the new range of three wines, designing the labels and selecting the unique glass bottles – which were inspired by vintage perfume bottles.

The wines are all priced at US$13.99 and be bought in the US through the Gia Wines website.
