Tormore launches two new single malts

Pernod Ricard’s premium Scotch whisky and gin arm, Chivas Brothers has released two limited quantity single malts from its distillery in Tormore, and a fresh new look for 2014.

Tormore 14 Year Old

Tormore 14 Year Old and Tormore 16 Year Old will both be produced in limited quantities from a small number of carefully-selected casks, coinciding with the launch of the a brand redesign to with the aim of appealing to “discerning drinkers”.

Both expressions have been aged in American oak casks and bottled without chill-filtration to reveal a “complexity and flavour, such as ripe melon”.

The brand’s new identity includes a contemporary logo and refreshed packaging drawing on the distillery’s still room and natural landscape with the aim of reinforcing the purity of the spirit.

The whiskies are presented in a luxury carton featuring the batch number and signature of Master Distiller, Neal Corbett.

A new website has also been developed to support the launch of the new whiskies.

Tormore 16 Year Old

Nikki Burgess, global brand director for malts at Chivas Brothers, said: “As consumers are putting more and more emphasis on the importance of provenance, the global demand for Scotch malt whiskies continues to grow. It is therefore the perfect time to introduce new, crafted single malts for discerning drinkers to discover.

“The re-design of Tormore heralds a new era for the distillery under Master Distiller, Neal Corbett, who has created a new single malt range that we are sure will appeal to both Scotch connoisseurs and discerning drinkers looking to expand their Scotch repertoire alike.”

Tormore Distillery, in Speyside, opened in 1960 and was named after the Gaelic ‘Torra Mhòir’, meaning ‘big hill’.

It is owned by renowned neoclassic architect Sir Albert Richardson and features stone balconies, a copper roof and a musical clock, which led to the distillery being granted listed building status within just 30 years of construction.

Tormore 14 Year Old and Tormore 16 Year Old are available in France, priced at €42 and €56 respectively, and are expected to roll out into other key malt markets throughout 2014.
