Tokyo boasts a buzzing nightlife and a wealth of wine bars offering a haven for any city-going wine lover.

Once home to Asia’s most important wine market, Japan has since been superseded by Hong Kong but still enjoys a vibrant wine scene.

Japan began regularly making  wine in the second half of the 19th century –  but grape growing is believed to have started as early as 718AD. 

It’s main winemaking region lies in the Yamanashi Prefecture which accounts for 40% of domestic production with common grapes including the white Koshu.
