Frescobaldi appoints new president

Marchesi de’ Frescobaldi has announced that Lamberto Frescobaldi is to be its new president – the 30th generation of the family to hold the position.

Taking over from his uncle Leonardo, Lamberto said he wanted to strengthen the group’s standing in the US as well as expand further into Asia.

Leonardo Frescobaldi said his nephew was, “ready to take over my position and I’m sure he will be a great president.”

Lamberto added: “I would like to thank all who have worked tirelessly for the company throughout the years: my father Vittorio, who, thanks to his passion for the family business, has inspired my love for viticulture and respect for nature. “Particular thanks goes to my uncles Ferdinando and Leonardo, who contributed significantly to the most recent success of Marchesi de’ Frescobaldi. My main goal is to continue the successful direction of the company in both traditional markets, such as the US, and take advantage of the emerging ones, such as Asia.”

Lamberto joined the company as a young man, having studied agricultural science at UC Davis, and worked hard to modernise the family’s vineyards on his return in the late 1980s.

He was named vice president in 2007 overseeing the renewal of the nine estates in the family’s portfolio.
