Ramsay and Beckham to open a restaurant in Borough Market

Tempestuous chef Gordon Ramsay and retired footballer David Beckham are to open a restaurant together in a converted warehouse in London’s Borough Market.

Gordon Ramsay and David Beckham’s Union Street Café is to open in Borough Market in September

Named the Union Street Café, the joint venture, funded by Beckham, is set to open this September.

“Borough Market is one of my favourite places in London; it’s an area where people are passionate about food and we’re really excited about opening,” said Ramsay.

Given its proximity to the market, many of the ingredients will be sourced from both Borough and the neighbouring Maltby Street market

With a focus on seasonality and artisan produce cooked in a Mediterranean style, the remainder of the ingredients will come form across the UK.

Among the dishes on the menu will be baked lobster with chili and marjoram; torn pasta with artichoke, pancetta, mint and ricotta; and veal carpaccio with lemon, anchovy, olive and celery.

Union Street Café’s interior will remain true to its warehouse setting, and will be decked out in steel, leather and reclaimed furniture, along with vintage Italian seating in a nod to its Mediterranean approach to cooking.

A downstairs bar will serve classic Italian cocktails, including the Negroni, Bellini and Aperol Spritz.

The Gordon Ramsay Group comprises 25 restaurants around the world and boasts a total of nine Michelin stars.
