Fast track to French tastings at LIWF

The Fast track to France stand at the London International Wine Fair (LIWF), which offers visitors the chance to taste wines from all over the country, is proving popular this week.

The stand, at E20/1 at the LIWF, has around 80 different wines from all over France and the self service tasting area has been designed to be a shortcut for visitors. Anyone who heads to the stand can try the range of wines and each bottle is marked with the relevant exhibitor stand number, making it a great timing saving opportunity for guests.

The concept of being able to self serve wines and find the ones you like quickly and easily has proved popular with many visitors.

Roger Sutton, manager of the Woolwich Club, told db: “Personally, I think this is a fantastic way to do this. I’ve tried a few and I’m going to visit some stands to find out more and buy some wine.”

The stands attracted owners, importers, sommeliers and chefs, who were able to taste the wide selection of award-winning wines.

Importer Eckhard Hillman added: “It is very interesting to see all the different wines. All the different styles and textures are very good and it is good to have this in one place.”

As well as the classic wines like Champagne and Crozes-Hermitage, which proved to be popular with many visitors to the stand, it is possible to try a number of wines that you might not know as well.

Chef de rang, Damon Gray said: “I know a few of the wines and styles that are here, but there are quite a few that I’ve not tried before. This stand is great for me because I haven’t got a lot of time here today, so I can taste a good number of wines quite quickly and go and see the stands when I know which ones I like.”

The Fast track to France stand also features a “Wines with style” photo stand, offering visitors a fun break from the serious business of the fair. You can dress up in stereotypical French clothing and have your photograph taken in front of a green screen, the resulting photo is then printed with a choice of background, giving you a permanent reminder of the show.
