Austrian wines to feature at LIWF

An in-depth look at Austrian wines and grape varieties will take place during a series of tastings at next week’s London International Wine Fair.

The Austrian Wine Marketing Board (AWMB) will feature Austria’s indigenous grape varieties, including the red Blaufränkisch, Zweigelt and Sankt Laurent alongside the white Grüner Veltliner.

The Grüner Veltliner, Riesling and white Austrian wine tastings will take place each morning of the wine fair, while Austrian reds and sweet wines will feature each afternoon.

In a statement the AWMB said: “The presence once again of Austrian wineries at the LIWF, combined with the series of themed tastings underscores the continued growing interest and success of Austrian wines in the international arena.

“These hand-crafted wines are sought after for their unique, food-friendly varieties and styles, and come from some of the world’s most distinctive terroirs.”

Producers from across Austria’s wine-growing regions will be present at the LIWF – from the Kremstal and Kamptal in the Danube Valley to the Neusiedlersee and Mittelburgenland in the east and the Südsteiermark to the south.
