Top 10 gay favourite drinks

9th April, 2013 by Andy Young

4 – Purple Hand Beer

Purple Hand beerIn 2011 a small Mexican brewery produced what it claims is the the world’s first beer specifically targeted at the homosexual community. The Minerva brewery produced the Purple Hand and Salamandra beers with labels on the bottles that could be removed and worn as a symbol of gay pride.

Dario Rodriguez Wyler, commercial manager for distributors Bodega 12, said: “We’re out in the market with great respect with the idea of offering a product directed to the gay-lesbian community that has been ignored for too long but is important and very demanding.”

The name of the beers also has a link to the LGBT community. Purple Hand refers to a famous gay rights protest that took place in San Francisco in 1969. The brewery also said that it is planning to launch a strawberry-flavoured beer.

  1. Michael Cawdrey says:

Egalite is good not just a statement. Now that it is in Seattle people are ordering it by the case for equality weddings. And we are getting requests for straight birthdays, surprise parties, even to toast the “equality” of becoming an American Homeowner for a French couple moving to Seattle. It is beginning to enter the wider consciousness.

  2. French Eddy says:

I think you forgot one major drink in this survey… Champagne is one of the most popular drink amongst the gay population.
